Privacy Policy

CREW is designed to collect only what's necessary to connect you with people through people you already trust. We don't sell your data, we don't run ad targeting, and your location is always a city — never GPS coordinates.
1. Who We Are
CREW ("CREW," "we," "us," or "our") is a dating application built on
trust through mutual friend vouching. Our app is operated by CREW and
currently available in limited beta in Lexington, Kentucky. If you have

2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Phone number — used solely for authentication via one-time passcode (OTP). We do not display your phone number to other users.
- Profile information — your name, age, city/hub location, bio, "looking for" preferences, and profile photos.
- Vouches — text and optional photos submitted by your friends who vouch for you. Vouches are visible on your profile to other CREW users.
- Messages — messages you send to your matches within the app.
- Contacts — only if you choose to invite friends, we request access to your contacts to help you select people to invite. We do not upload your full contact list to our servers.
Information collected automatically:
- Device token — an Expo push notification token stored so we can send you notifications about matches, vouches, and messages. You may disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Crash and error data — if the app crashes, we collect anonymized diagnostic data (device type, OS version, error stack trace) via Sentry to help us fix bugs. No personal information is included in crash reports.
- Usage patterns — basic anonymous analytics (screens visited, actions taken) to help us improve the app experience. These are never linked to your identity.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account
- To display your profile to other CREW users in your hub
- To facilitate vouching between you and your friends
- To enable matching and messaging with other users
- To send you push notifications about matches, vouches, and new messages (only if you grant permission)
- To identify and fix crashes and errors in the app
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service
- To comply with applicable law
We do not use your information to:
- Serve you advertisements
- Sell or rent your data to third parties
- Build behavioral profiles for advertising networks
- Train AI or machine learning models on your personal content
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- With other CREW users — your profile (name, age, hub, bio, photos, vouches) is visible to other users in the app. Your phone number is never shared.
- With service providers — we use the following third-party services, each bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements:
- Supabase (supabase.com) — database, authentication, and file storage
- Twilio (twilio.com) — SMS delivery for phone number verification
- Expo / Exponent (expo.dev) — push notification delivery
- Sentry (sentry.io) — crash and error reporting (anonymized)
- For legal reasons — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of CREW users or the public.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Your Location
CREW uses a hub-based location model. You select a city
or region (your "hub") from a list during onboarding. We never collect
or store your GPS coordinates. Other users see only your hub city —
for example, "Lexington, KY" — not your neighborhood, street, or
precise location.
6. Photos and Media
Photos you upload (profile photos, vouch photos) are stored in our
secure cloud storage (Supabase Storage). Profile photos are visible
to all CREW users. If you delete your account, your photos are deleted
from our storage within 30 days.
7. Data Retention
- Active accounts — we retain your data for as long as your account is active.
- Messages — messages are retained for the duration of the match. We may implement automatic expiry in a future update.
- After account deletion — we delete your profile, photos, and personal data within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for safety purposes (e.g., records of abuse reports).
- Crash logs — anonymized crash data is retained for 90 days.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — update your profile information directly in the app at any time
- Deletion — delete your account from the My Profile screen (Settings → Sign Out → Delete Account). This permanently removes your profile and associated data.
- Portability — request an export of your data in a machine-readable format
- Opt out of push notifications — disable in your iOS device settings at any time

9. Children's Privacy
CREW is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 18, we
will delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has
created an account, please contact us at

10. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data
transmission (TLS), row-level security on our database, and access
controls that limit which service accounts can read user data. No
method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-Party Links
CREW may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not
responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and this
policy does not apply to them.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make
material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email if
we have your contact information. Your continued use of CREW after the
effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the
revised policy.
